Announcements April 3, 2008.


The Dole Institute of Politics at the Univ. of Kansas has invited THS to nominate two juniors for a Youth Civic Leadership Institute at KU, July 16-18, ’08. Fifty students will be selected to spend three days and two nights at the university engaged in a program designed to foster appreciation and involvement in public service. The students selected will attend at no charge. If you would like to be nominated to represent THS, please stop by and see K. Walker by Monday, April 7.

Girl’s Letter Club members who have qualified for the trip on May 3rd and 4th need to turn in a $20 cash deposit to Mrs. Sue Walker by April 7th. This year’s trip will be to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Blood Drive forms for the blood drive tomorrow are due by 3:10 today.

Driver’s Ed. Is full...If you want in, you need to contact Phil Jeannin

Junior women: The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the Sunflower Girls State each year. This is a program designed to teach you about American democracy. This summer the Girls’ State will be from June 1-6 on the Univ. of Kansas campus. The cost is $250, but we may have sponsorships for 1-2 THS students. Pick up an application from Mrs. K. Walker. It will be due April 7.

The counselors have information about jobs at World's of Fun. If interested, stop by and pick up an application.

Senior & Junior women: The Leavenworth High School NHS is sponsoring Operation Cinderella this week from 4:30-6:00 each day this week and 10:00 - 3:00 on Saturday. Through this service they are offering more affordable formal dresses for Prom or other spring dances. They have collected over 130 dresses, that have been dry cleaned and are in good condition. They plan to sell them for $15. The proceeds will go to charity. Stop by Mrs. K. Walker's office for further information.

A father is looking for a female tutor for his 7th grade daughter for English and Math. He would like the tutoring to take place 2-3 times each week for one hour at the Library. Please see Mrs. K. Walker if you are interested in this position.
