Announcements May 6, 2008


Any 9th - 11th grade student interested in trying out for next year's Chieftain Singers -- Mr. Gifford will be at lunch today to answer any questions you might have and to schedule audition times.

The varsity baseball team defeated Mill Valley Friday 16-14 to move their record to 10-7. All JV equipment needs to be turned in to Mr Loomis

Congratulations to the golf team for taking 3rd place at the league meet. Drew Scates tied for 6th and Dalton Lawson and Matt Williams tied for 10th.

The THS forensics squad won the 2008 4A State Championship Tournament Saturday at Topeka Washburn Rural HS.
Team members were: Seniors Sam Schnittger, Krista Jobst, Jake Bontrager, Ann Erickson and Matthew Williams; Juniors Ben Field, David Powell, Ryan Brammer and Alicia Osborne; Sophomores Emily Jefferies, Austin Baragary and Nic Irick.

Individual medalists were: Cody Somers- 6th in Lincoln-Douglas Debate; Jon Lane 2nd in Lincoln Douglas Debate; Nic Irick 5th in Extemp; Ryan Brammer 5th in Prose Interp; Ben Field 3rd in Prose Interp; Ann Erickson 3rd in Oration, Matthew Williams 2nd in Oration; Alicia Osborne 4th in Informative Speaking; Jake Bontrager 2nd in Informative Speaking; Ann Erickson 1st in Informative Speaking.

Jon, Ann, Nic, Ben, Jake and Matthew will be traveling to Green Bay, Wisconsin for the national speech tournament during Memorial Day weekend.

State Forensics Festival results:

Receiving Third Division Ratings were:
Brenden Brower-Freeman, Matt Doyle, Lexi Faherty, Doug Emerson, and Elisa Fourt

Receiving Second Division Ratings were:
David Nussbaum, Ashley Forbis, Kayla Jackson, Josh Hendrix,Lana Dominguez, Sarah Swaim,and Marie Faisant

Receiving First Division Ratings and State Festival Medals were:
Ben Higbee, Miranda Bontrager, Dalton Lawson, and Hayley Wheeler

Internship students:
You must stop by Mrs. S. Walker's office this week to pick up an evaluation form. All time sheets, journals and evaluations are due May 9th!

Seniors – You need to check the library list outside of each office. Fines must be paid by Thursday.

Anyone still interested in going to the After Grad Party should turn in a slip ASAP.

4:30 pm – V/JV Soccer here vs. Basehor-Linwood
4:30 pm – Varsity Softball at Silver Lake, dismiss at 2:05
